Evangeline “Evie” Samoilova is an Australian based costumier who deals with
all the bits and bobbins that is costuming. With an interest in sewing from a
young age, she spent two years studying Applied Fashion Design & Technology
at TasTAFE. It was there that she was encouraged to apply for the Bachelor of
Fine Arts (Costume) at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) so she
could continue developing her skills and further her knowledge.
NIDA has been recognised as a leader in performing arts education not only in Australia, but worldwide. Her time studying there has given Evangeline invaluable insight and experience of the costume department in the workroom, backstage, and on set.
Evangeline has a passion for the historical and theatrical - be it ballet, circus, opera, or musical - but also enjoys the challenges the film and tv world offers. Equipped with a wide range of skills in historical research, designing, period cutting and sewing, tailoring, art finishing, textile embellishment, millinery, and dressing, she is always on the lookout for new learning opportunities.
